Ice thickness measurement of Alfred Wegener Institute, Germany.
With the increasing temperature Arctic Ocean ice thickness is rapidly decreasing. Average temperatures in the Arctic are raising twice as much as they are elsewhere on Earth.
TIFAX is an airplane based ice thickness measurement campaign, providing high accurate ice thickness data and information about changing Arctic Ocean.
Campaign runs since 2010 with lead scientist Dr. Thomas Krumpen from Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research.
Result of the campaign 2016:
Since 2010 ice thickness in Arctic Ocean decreased by 42%.
